March Madness

This weekend is the Final Four and it got me thinking about how technology has changed the last decade. In High School we had TVs in every room and the fun teachers would let us watch March Madness that first Thursday and Friday. It was great! In college it didn’t much matter as you just didn’t goto class if you wanted to watch the game. Then I’m in the “real world” and you would keep up with the games through the live update tickers. Hardly fun but better than nothing. Not long after that you could watch the games live … Continue reading

How design plays into a company’s marketing strategy

Both print design & web design play a crucial role in a company’s marketing success. If your brochures, business cards, flyers and any other form of advertisement are dull and not attractive, viewers are more likely to skip right over them. A company needs a great design to really catch an individual’s eye. Good marketing can really communicate a message with the audience and that is the main point of marketing? Correct? Informing the clients who you are and what it is that you do is the main goal. Therefore, having that clear message is very important in marketing. It … Continue reading

Out of the Box?

In the web world, most clients fall into 1 of 3 categories. 1) I know nothing, you’re the expert, you tell me what should be done 2) I know nothing, I’M the expert, I will tell you the professional how to do your job 3) I know nothing, can’t you just buy it from someone for $50 and install it and it’ll all work? Granted, not everyone falls into those 3 categories but for the most part they do. In my experience anyways. Each creates a different set of hurdles and obstacles that must be overcome and addressed with the … Continue reading

Lytro Camera

This is one of the coolest new things I’ve seen in a very long time. Goto their website www.lytro.com and read about it. I can’t explain the science behind it. All I know, is you take a picture with it, no need to focus before taking the picture because when you get the picture back onto your computer, you click and pick the point you want in focus and it will focus there!!!! YES! You pick the focus point AFTER the picture is taken. Checkout their website. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these.

Choose Your Seat

In the past when we wanted to goto a concert or sporting event we would goto the local Ticketmaster retailer or the box office and wait in long lines for hours to get those great seat. Then the internet became popular and everyone was buying tickets online. It was/is great! But what if you didn’t like your tickets or wanted more options like a specific section? The last time I bought tickets from Ticketmaster you had to release your tickets and it would search for new ones. You could choose based on best available or price range. Last summer I … Continue reading

Passwords AGAIN?

I’m not a huge security person when it comes to my accounts and gadgets. I break the rules and have 2 or 3 passwords that I use for everything. A mix of letters, uppercase, numbers, and symbols. Believe it or not, they are even a random mix that I just so happened to memorize and is a 12 character string. Pretty solid for password protection. I don’t change it every couple weeks like you’re told to. I don’t share it with people though. If you get a hold of my computer or phone and get in, you’ll have access to … Continue reading
